Car Insurance Yugo (Car Insurance). Harley vs Honda CBR Vs Yamaha R1?Harley vs Honda CBR Vs Yamaha R1? Hi Guys , I Am Planning to buy a Bike , but i have no clue which bike should i Opt for, i Use to drive a bike of 100cc to 250cc back in home country 4 years back,i have 5 to 6 years of experience in driving a bike with less than 250 Cc bikes, its been 3 years since i ride any bike here in USA. basically i have 3 options on Motor bike selection which i have been thinking since these 3 years, i am confused on Hardly Davidson , Honda CBR or the Yamaha R1, and i could spend up to $8000 to $10000 , So Can you suggest me which bike should i prefer, i am actually more interested in Hardly Davidson but i don't have any clue on which models should i select . basically i am looking at a sporty look one , as well as a performance one. and also have confusion weather to go for a used bike or a new bike, can any of you guys help me in taking a right suggestion and also can you let me know how the vehicle vary's in depreciation value for these 3 bikes for year or 2 year usage . Get yourself a Harley Sportster. One of those 48s would be nice. I don't know how much they cost. Depends on how you want to ride it. I have an R1 which i do short trips and track days. My cruiser is better suited for longer trips. (more laid back comfortable riding position.) The R1 and CBR are way beyond your experience level. You could ride a harley ok but they are overpriced mechanically inferior bikes. Look into a Suzuki 650 v-strom a bike with many attractive qualities. R1 or CBR, whichever fits you best. Be very careful, these bikes are insane. If you are used to 100-250 cc bikes, then I would warn against ANY of the bikes you mention, with the possible exception of the harley sportster. The Honda CBR and the Yamaha R1 are both bikes that need a highly experienced rider. No disrespect intended. I have been riding for over 25 yrs, and I don't have any business on either of those bikes. I would suggest trying motorcycles in the 250-650 cc class, especially in the sport-performance category. While these are still exciting to ride, they will give you a better learning experience than the jumping straight onto a CBR of F1. If you like the looks of the Harleys, then a cruiser between 650-1000cc might better suit you. Cruiser bikes don't have the head snapping speed you find in a sport bike, but are much easier to ride and a lot more comfortable, especially for trips longer than an hour. The prices on these bikes are also much less than the Harleys, which will run $4000 or more for a used bike, up to $10,000 or more for a new sportster. Yugo . How to Rebuild a Truck's CarburetorRebuilding a carburetor for a truck is not much different from rebuilding one for a car. You need a rebuild kit, carburetor cleaner and a schematic showing how the various components go together. The difference with truck carburetors is the number of accessories that have to be removed before you take the carburetor off of the intake manifold. This must be done in a specific order, or frustration sets in and you end up closing the hood. Follow the directions in a Chilton or Haynes repair manual to remove the accessories and take a seat at the workbench to rebuild a truck carburetor. Difficulty:Moderately Challenging Instructions Things You'll Need Rebuild kit (year and model of the carburetor) Screwdriver Nut driver Needle-nose pliers Carburetor parts basket Bucket Carburetor cleaner solution Spray carburetor cleaner Shop rags Step by Step : 1 Remove the vacuum diaphragm cover at the top of the carburetor using a screwdriver or nut driver. Take the spring and rubber diaphragm out of the carburetor and place the cover in a carburetor parts basket. 2 Pull the choke rod out of the lever at the upper side of the carburetor using needle nose pliers. Remove the other end of the choke rod where it connects to the choke lever. Remove the choke ring and pull the choke off. 3 Remove the accelerator pump cover on the front of the carburetor using a screwdriver. Pull the diaphragm, pump spring and the brass inlet valve out of the carburetor by hand. Put the accelerator pump cover in the parts basket. 4 Loosen and remove the screws at the top of the carburetor. Lift the top of the carburetor off and place it in the basket. Remove the old gasket from the top of the carburetor body. 5 Pour 1/2-gallon of carburetor cleaner solution into a clean a one-gallon bucket. Immerse the basket of parts into the solution. 6 Turn the carburetor over and remove the main jets from the inside using a screwdriver. Wear safety glasses and spray the carburetor body with spray cleaner. Wipe it down with a shop rag. 7 Lift the basket out of the cleaner solution and place the parts on a towel or shop rags. Wipe the individual parts with shop rags. 8 Install the new main jets from the rebuild kit into the carburetor body using a screwdriver. Place the new top gasket on the body. Reattach the top of the carburetor using the original screws. 9 Install the new accelerator check valve, spring and diaphragm into the front of the carburetor. Attach the accelerator pump cover using the original screws. Step by Step : 10 Install the new vacuum diaphragm and spring at the upper side of the carburetor. Reattach the vacuum diaphragm cover using the original screws. Step by Step : 11 Put the choke assembly on the carburetor and reattach the choke ring using the saved screws. Reconnect the choke rod to the upper and lower choke levers. Tips & Warnings Truck carburetors vary. Refer to the information and schematic in the rebuilding kit for your particular model. Keep screws and clips in a glass jar for easy identification. Clean the screws and clips in the cleaner solution. ResourcesAuto Repair Manuals: Chilton & Haynes Manuals
Yugo . What Is the Difference Between a 650 & 750 Holley Double Pumper Carb?Holley's Double Pumper carburetors are a popular choice of four-barrel carburetors amongst hot-rodders and classic car enthusiasts. The Double Pumper carburetors have a mechanical link from one set of two venturis (or "barrels") and the second set of two venturis. This provides crisper throttle response during acceleration. The difference between the 650 and 750 is size. You need to understand a little about carburetors to understand this difference and how it's measured: in CFM or "Cubic Feet per Miute" of air volume. Venturis Venturis are cylinders cast into or bored through the carburetor's throttle body. The size of many carburetors -- single motorcycle carbs for example -- are measured by the diameter of their venturi. Automotive and multi-barrel or multi-carb stacks would have to be multiplied if they were expressed in size. So, their measurement is expressed in the maximum air volume that can flow through the carburetor at wide open throttle. Butterfly Valves The function of a carburetor is to mix gas and air, delivering precisely the right ratio and quantity at any given throttle position. The throttle position actuates butterfly valves in the Double Pumper. Other carburetors have various other mechanisms to open, from slides to rotary valves. The Double Pumper's butterfly valves are completely closed when the throttle isn't actuated; it relies solely on its idle circuit. As the throttle is actuated, the the butterfly valves open. When partially opened, they limit the volume of gas/air mixture that passes through the venturis. Venturi Size CFM is measured only at wide-open throttle, when both banks of butterfly valves are open, letting air pass through all four venturis or "barrels" with little obstruction. Generally, the larger the venturi(s), the greater the air-flow at wide-open throttle. If you have two, otherwise identical carburetors, like the Holley 650 and 750 Double Pumpers, venturi size will directly indicate the amount of airflow. Cubic Feet Per Minute When translated, larger venturis, means more air flow at full throttle. Carburetors are rated by the maximum amount of air that will pass through them given a constant amount of vacuum. The 650 Double Pumper flows 650 CFM and the larger venturis of the 750 Double Pumper flow 750 CFM. Bigger, however, is not always better. Maximizing power and throttle response has many factors. Generally, it is the correct mixture of gas/air for a given condition. If the engine can optimize more mixture, the 750 will increase the engine's maximum power at full throttle. *Even the happiest, most beautifully tuned vehicle overheats occasionally. If you find yourself in stop-and-go traffic on an extremely hot day, chances are that your car's dashboard temperature indicator will rise or a warning light will come on. Here's how to help your vehicle regain its cool: At the first sign of overheating, shut off your air conditioner and open your windows. Doing so decreases the load on the engine and helps it cool off. If you continue to overheat, turn on the heater and blower. Doing so transfers the heat from the engine to the interior of the car. (This does wonders for your overheated engine but very little for you!) If you're stopped hi traffic and the temperature gauge is rising, shift into Neutral and rev the engine a little. Doing so makes the water pump and the fan speed up, which draws more liquid and air through the radiator. The increased air and liquid circulation helps cool things off. Try not to ride your brakes. Crawl along slowly, on little more than an idle, rather than moving up and then braking repeatedly. Brake drag increases the load on the engine and makes it heat up. If traffic is crawling, move up only when the gap between you and the vehicle in front of you gets too wide. .Chapter 21: What to Do If Your Car Drops Dead or Won't Start AAJ * If you think that your vehicle is about to boil over, drive to the side of the road, open the hood, and sit there until things cool off. Remember, don't open the radiator cap under these circumstances, and if your engine has boiled over, don't add water until the engine is quite cool again. If you must add water when the engine is still a little warm, add the water while the engine is running in Neutral. Follow the instructions at the beginning of this chapter to park where you can safely get out and open your hood. Then, to avoid the possibility of burning yourself, follow the instructions in Chapter 14 for opening a radiator pressure cap and adding liquid to the system safely. Sometimes very hot weather causes vapor lock, which makes your car stop 959

Overheating When It Isn't Hot Outside Although hot weather is the most common cause of overheating, many other factors can cause the same problem. If your vehicle overheats in traffic in normal weather, one of the following may be the culprit: * The water and coolant level in the radiator is low. If you haven't checked your fluid level in a while (or ever), check it now, either by looking at the level through the side of the coolant recovery system or by following the instructions in "Check the Radiator" in Chapter 3. * There's a leak in the cooling system. Chapter 14 has an entire section that explains where to look for leaks in various parts of the cooling system and what to do after you find them. Yugo . What kind of license is required to operate a vehicle equipped with air brakes?
Chevrolet Tahoe (New). * * If you can't locate any leaks, your thermostat may be malfunctioning. Obviously, you can't replace the thermostat at the side of the road, but Chapter 14 has instructions for doing so cheaply and easily once you're safely back home. In the meantime, you can eliminate this malfunction as a possibility if you wait until the engine cools down completely and use those instructions to remove the old thermostat and reconnect the hoses. If the car starts up and runs well without the thermostat, the old one was probably screwing up the works. Get a new thermostat immediately if you find that your old one isn't working. If you drive for long distances without a thermostat, you can damage your engine. * If none of these seems to be the problem and your vehicle continues to overheat, check out "Overcoming Overheating" in Chapter 14. Part IV: Dealing with On-the-Road Emergencies. If \lour Car Won't Start Before I end this chapter, consider those wonderful days when your car won't start. If you left your lights, heater, radio, or some other electrical gizmo on after you parked the car, you know what the trouble is: Your battery is dead. Of course, there are other possible reasons that your car won't start. The next section, "Won't-start symptoms," lists them. The last section, "Jumping a start," explains the safest way to jump-start your vehicle. Won't-start symptoms Yugo . In 2000 how many trips did americans take on public transpertation?

The following list outlines the most common circumstances and tells you what action you can take to try to remedy each situation: * The car is silent when you turn the key in the ignition. Check the battery terminal cable connections (see Chapter 3). If they look very corroded, force the point of a screwdriver (with an insulated or wooden handle) between the connector and the terminal post and twist it to lodge it firmly. Then try to start the engine. If it starts, you need to clean or replace your cables. You can find instructions for cleaning them in Chapter 3. The car makes a clicking noise but won't start. This sound usually means a dead battery. If not, check the wiring to and from the starter for a loose connection. * The car cranks over but won't start. Check the fuel supply to your engine (see "Fuel" earlier in this chapter, and Chapter 13). If that's okay, check whether the electrical spark is getting through (see "Fire," earlier in this chapter, and Chapter 12). * The engine starts but dies. If your car has a carburetor, check your carburetor adjustment and your choke to see whether the choke is first closing and then opening. (Chapter 13 has instructions for both of these checks.) If you have fuel injection, you'll need professional help. Yugo . How does the inside of a brinks armored truck look?
